Homeowners Insurance
Most insurance carriers offer homeowners’ insurance, so how can you tell what’s right for you? By working DPS Insurance Group to get the right coverage at the right cost.
Keep a Roof Over Your Head, Even in Crisis
Homeowners’ insurance is the coverage that may help pay to repair or replace your home and belongings if they are damaged, or items if they are stolen. It may also help cover costs if you accidentally damage another person’s property or if a visitor is injured at your home. At DPS Insurance, we will work hard to make sure you are protected in your times of greatest need.
What should I consider when buying homeowners coverage:
- The building, and cost of rebuilding
- The contents of your home
- The likelihood of accidental damage
- Any valuable items that need to be covered
What you cover with homeowners insurance ?
Dwelling Protection
This helps cover the structure of the home, (i.e. the house’s foundation, walls, and roof). Dwelling protection may also help cover other structures that are attached to the home, such as a garage or a deck, against certain risks.
Liability
A typical homeowners insurance policy provides liability coverage when someone not living with you is injured while on your property. You may also consider adding an umbrella policy to extend your liability limits.
Other Structures
Most homeowners insurance policies also include coverage for other structures that are on your property but separate from your home, like a detached garage, tool shed, or fence. Covering secondary structures from perils is important.
Personal Property
Homeowners insurance covers more than just damage to your home. It also covers the personal belongings you keep within it. Additional coverages for personal property are also available if you go beyond your coverage limits.
Coverage & Deductibles
Each coverage in a homeowners insurance policy is subject to a limit, which we will discuss with you while helping you to obtain insurance. A limit is the maximum amount your policy would pay toward a covered loss under that category. You may be able to adjust your coverage limits to your needs by taking into account the value of your home and belongings and how much it may cost to repair or replace them in the event of a catastrophe.
In most cases, you will have to pay your deductible before your insurance benefits cover a loss. Read your policy or contact your agent to review your coverage limits and deductibles.
Insurance Discounts
Discounts are oftentimes available for purchasing both your homeowners’ insurance and your auto insurance from the same carrier. Ask your agent how you can save money on your policies today!
